Egg Donation

Donor eggs are used if the IVF or surrogacy program cannot use the oocytes of the future mother or if they are of a low quality.

Egg donors can only be young healthy women who have previously undergone various examinations: a medical examination, genetic studies, and psychological surveys.

They should also meet the following requirements, which were established by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine:

Age 18–36 years
Have at least one healthy child of her own
No hereditary diseases
Do not smoke or drink

Egg donation: main stages

step 1

Hormonal
stimulation

Donors undergo hormonal stimulation to grow as many eggs as possible during one menstrual cycle. This stage usually takes about 10 to 14 days.

step 2

Egg
retrieval

Mature eggs are retrieved using the follicular puncture procedure. The high-quality ones are selected for future fertilization.

step 3

Fertilization

The selected donor eggs are fertilized with sperm using the intracytoplasmic sperm injection method.

Sperm donation program in Ukraine

Donor sperm is used in the following cases:

If the male has confirmed infertility
If the male has a high risk of transmitting a hereditary disease to the baby
If the woman is single and needs a sperm donor for IVF

All sperm donors in Ukraine are completely anonymous.
They are strictly selected by phenotype, undergo a medical examination before the program and meet the following criteria:

Age 18 to 35 years
At least one healthy child of their own
No hereditary diseases
Do not smoke or drink
